Per the BRA, the Trans National building in the Fenway is a proposed 340-foot residential tower in Fenway, one block from Fenway Park. Located between Ipswich Street and a private alley, it will be one of the taller new buildings in Fenway. Developer Trans National Properties has long wanted to construct a residential tower in this space, currently occupied by the company’s headquarters. The company will demolish the older building in order to build the residential tower, which is being designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects.
The proposed 350,000-square-foot tower will consist of 325 residential units — a mix of condominiums and apartments — along with 10,000 square feet of street-level retail space, 6,000 square feet of office space as well as 200 parking spaces.
In addition, Trans National Properties has plans to upgrade the area around the building. Plans include improving the pedestrian walking routes in the area and adding more retail space to Ipswich Street. Trans National Properties is expecting to begin construction of the project in spring 2017 and complete the building in 2020.
