Washington Village will be a five-acre residential and retail project in South Boston. The project gained approval from the BRA in mid-August 2016. Situated close to the MBTA Andrew Station on the Red Line, the development will offer residents convenience in addition to a range of amenities. Per the BRA, the development will consist of 656 apartments and condos. 110 of these units will be marketed as affordable. Studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units will be available to rent or own. Washington Village will have eight buildings in total, with heights ranging between three and four stories to 21 stories (per the BRA).
The development will also include 98,600 square feet of retail space, with the potential for a grocery store. Additionally, the development will feature 440 below-ground parking spaces as well as 120 surface parking spots. Open spaces will total 42,500 square feet, and there will be the addition of new streets, as well as walkways and plazas, a centerpiece of which will be a 1.5 acre public plaza and green.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2021.
